Temporary Cycle Project Officer Job in London

Job details:
Our client is the largest in area of all the London Boroughs, covering some 58 square miles with approximately 500 miles of roads. The main duties of the post will be assisting the Sustainable Transport Officer with cycling projects.
Our client needs an enthusiastic person to join their busy traffic office to support the implementation of transport related projects. You will be involved in a variety of initiatives that are targeted towards increasing the number of cyclists in the Borough.
Other topics include the promotion of Cycle Routes in the Borough, development of cycle station parking, cycle infrastructure work and web based promotion of cycle schemes.
The candidate should have considerable experience in this field, ideally in a London local authority and have a relevant degree or higher qualification.
MAIN TASKS
1.To assist in the planning and preparation of a staged programme of schemes in accordance with Borough and Transport for London cycle policy.
2.To assist in planning and proposals that develop cycle parking in Bromley, including preparation of associated costs.
3.To contribute to the development of strategies and monitoring and promotion of cycling initiatives and other measures likely to have an impact on increased cycle use.
4.To contributed to the preparation of reports and briefings.
5.To stay up to date with current research into best practice in transport planning and research relating to cycling and transport integration.
6.To assist in the surveying of sites to implement new works
7.To undertake any duties consistent to objective's in line with the purpose of the post.

Qualifications and experience
Candidates will be able to demonstrate experience in the following areas:
*Considerable practical experience in the fields specified in the purpose of the post.
*A clear commitment to the development and delivery of user focused cycling and related programmes.
*A good knowledge of local cycle routes along with being a cyclist would be beneficial.
*You should have a relevant background in transportation or civil engineering possessing a degree or higher.
Knowledge (including key skills and technical specific elements)
Candidates will be expected to demonstrate the following knowledge:
*An understanding of transport related issues, including an insight into what cyclists needs are
*A knowledge of using databases and the collection of data
*Ability to interpret and present technical data
Personal competencies and qualities required
Candidates will be expected to demonstrate the following competencies:
*Clarity of thought, with the ability to present issues for decision making
*Good written, oral communication and presentation skills
*Reasonable level of numeracy and computer literacy, with some knowledge of arc view or similar software
*Good interpersonal skills and an ability to operate within a multi-disciplinary
