Asset Manager up to Vacancy in London

We have a new exciting opportunity at Saga Cruises for an Asset Manager to join our team in London with travel outside of the Country a requirement. You will join us on a fixed term contract of 18 months to 2 years basis and will receive a salary of up to £50,000 per annum.
Saga Cruises has ordered a 999 passenger 57,000 ton luxury passenger ship to be constructed at Meyer Werft’s Papenburg Shipyard to be delivered in mid-2022. There is an option for a second vessel for delivery in early 2021. Saga Cruises has a strong reputation in the British Cruise market for its high standards of passenger service. This vessel will significantly increase Saga Cruises’ passenger capacity allowing it to build on the success of its current ships.
The ship design is already well advanced and we will soon begin the final specifications and scope of Owner Supply items across the ship. We will therefore require an individual to join the existing team and take the lead role in driving the procurement process forward.
About the Asset Manager role:
As Asset Manager you will have the lead role in the sourcing and procurement of all Owner Supply equipment and services. This will require a high level of organization and interaction with various members of the Newbuild and Operations teams. The role will be varied, involving procurement of a range of items for both Hotel and Technical services covering all aspects of a Newbuild cruise ship. Resourcefulness will also be a key asset in investigating alternative suppliers, agreeing prices and payment terms as well as organizing logistics. Budget management and delivery to programme will play an important part in this role.
Frequent travel, normally within Europe, will be required.
Key responsibilities as our Asset Manager:
- The effectively provide the Asset Management for the newbuild project on time and within budget.
- To act as Saga Cruises’ representative in dealing with suppliers.
- Management of the overall Owner Supply scope and budget for the project.
- To determine an asset management plan for key items of equipment and materials fitted to the ship with the aim of minimising through life cost and ensuring that the ship is professionally maintained. This may include the negotiation of longer term pricing or leasing contracts with suppliers, inventory levels and identification of critical spares.
- Application of appropriate purchasing contract law.
- To become familiar with the owner supply elements of the vessel at a detailed level.
- To set up quality control and administration processes and systems.
- To identify and mitigate risks.
- To provide appropriate management information and report effectively into the Hotel Design Manager.
- To make qualified recommendations of proposed suppliers having liaised closely internally with Saga Newbuild team members.
- To analyse through-life costs of various purchasing options.
- To negotiate and agree final terms with suppliers and determine payment schedules, delivery schedules etc.
- To liaise with Hotel Operations to determine the specification of goods required for purchase to service the ship.
- To liaise effectively with our logistics provider based in Germany who will provide a warehousing and final delivery service.
experience and skills required of our Asset Manager:
- Purchasing and/or logistics professional.
- Major project contribution at a senior level.
- Knowledge of cruise ship construction rules would be useful but not essential.
- High standard of written and spoken English.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- MCIPS and/or equivalent experience.
