Deputy Manager Wanted in London

Our client is looking for a deputy manager to join their friendly team spending 2/3 days per week in the room and the rest of the time in the office supporting the nursery manager.
Main duties:
• Attend a weekly management meeting, taking notes and reviewing minutes circulated by Deputy Manager (office) to ensure discussions are recorded and progress is made
• Support the Nursery Manager in organising and hosting quarterly staff meetings (out of hours)
• Disseminate management decisions to Room Leaders, ensuring new decisions are taken on board and implemented/ maintained in the room at all times
• Host the room leaders meeting every 2 weeks, ensuring Room Leaders take bullet points/ short notes and file these appropriately in the office as a record of discussions and to aid progress and change
• Demonstrate excellent knowledge of the statutory framework and curriculum in England and ensure the team is supporting each child to develop within a stimulating environment
• Oversee the Room Leaders in implementing a wide and varied programme of activities for the children appropriate to their needs and developmental stage in line with Early Years Foundation Stage framework
• Act as a key person for a group of children as allocated by the management team, ensuring attachment theories are respected
• Have a sound knowledge of all the children in the setting and an excellent knowledge of your key children
• Work in partnership with parents, consulting and sharing information with them about the needs and progress of their children
• Monitor the completion of all the children’s developmental and observation records across the nursery and support the Room Leaders/ Nurse practitioners in ensuring these are of exceptional quality
• Support the Room Leaders in organising and hosting parents meetings (minimum of 2 per year), ensuring all relevant record keeping is completed to an exceptional standard to support these meetings
• Ensure Room Leaders are updating the display boards every 4 weeks with new material relevant to their creative activities
• Follow the nursery’s policy on supporting children’s positive behaviour and begin taking the lead in supporting our special educational needs children
• Helping the manager to take overall responsibility for the smooth running of the nursery as a whole, working flexibly and demonstrating a clear understanding of the nursery ethos, and ensuring each team member makes a positive contribution
• Helping the manager to take overall responsibility for managing staff effectively, ensuring ratios are maintained throughout the setting at all times
• Communicate effectively and positively with all staff, overseeing professionalism and reporting any concerns to management
• Work closely with the team to pass on your knowledge, practically and theoretically and ensure that each staff member makes a positive contribution to the success of the nursery
• Identify and address staff training needs in collaboration with the Nursery Manager
• Take the lead in the staff recognition programme and identify and suggest additional ways to increase/ maintain staff motivation
• Support the Nursery Manager in the recruitment process, offering advice and feedback and supporting the decision making process
Requirements:

• Minimum Level 3 qualified in childcare
• Experienced in a nursery setting
• Able to display excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Punctual and reliable
