Since January 2011, rhubarb have been at the Royal Albert Hall providing all food and drink at one of the world’s most iconic venues. The Royal Albert Hall operation consists of 3 dining spaces: Verdi Italian Kitchen, Coda by Eric Chavot, Elgar Bar and Grill, 14 bars, 1 retail outlet, 147 hospitality boxes and offers seated dinners for up to 2000 guests on a special raised floor in the auditorium.
We are recruiting a self-motivated Head of Event Operations, who is ready for a new professional challenge in this bespoke Premium environment.
As Head of Event Operations you will be responsible for the complete operational and commercial success in the daily function of the Events and Hospitality boxes team at the Royal Albert Hall.
This role combines balance of 70% office related administrative tasks and 30% floor presence.
Job Role:

Oversee all aspects of the Event Operations, Back of House Operations, VIP Boxes, and Hosting team.
To be a ‘foodie’ is key in our business and one of many other existing responsibilities within this role is working together with our culinary team to develop menus, attend the tastings and to develop the offer to stay innovative.
Ensure team are setting up boxes to set standards as set by FOH team.
All outlets, events and boxes are prepared and ready on time.
Pro-actively identify and address any weakness’s in information dissemination and delivery of service.
Rotas completed with staffing levels appropriate based on ticket sales and crowd demographic – checking and rechecking throughout the week.
Control of purchases, equipment hire, linen and all other cost elements of your department.
Generate and implement revenue boosting initiatives across core areas.
Reading ahead in the Hall Diary review opportunities to amend our sales mix to maximize selling opportunities to suit crowd demographic.
Work closely with planning team in building hospitality packages for events and boxes.
Follow and review weekly “control” schedule of random stock checks, line checks in hostess bar, spot till cash-ups, all cash handling procedures.
Promote strong team ethic and a culture of cross functional training and team exchange.
Conduct interviews, recruit and Induction plans for all new employees into Operations. This induction is to be exemplary and complete with three month review on schedule also using Buddy system.
Responsible for maintaining H and S; policy and due diligence as designated by legislation and rhubarb’s internal specification to include all relevant recording and documentation.

Candidate profile:

Your past working experience and educational background will provide a close fit with rhubarb’s commitment to quality, style and flair whilst delivering an outstanding customer service exceeding the set expectations of our clientele.
You will have proven track records within a similar work environment of event catering management or 5 star hotel or event venue management. Have good planning, time management, negotiation and organisational skills at operations level.
You will be an excellent team player, able to communicate at all levels and commit to sharing your knowledge and skills within our planners brigade.
You are able to commit to flexible work pattern undertaking weekend work.
