Tea Barista for new Venture in London

Our venture is a new take-away premium tea concept offering a range of tea beverage options targeted at diverse pallets of multi-cultural, trendy, exploratory and health conscious working professionals in central London.
We are in the final stages of securing a space for a top of the class trike in a highly coveted and upmarket Broadgate circle, near Liverpool street station. The working professionals in the area and our customers are primarily working in finance sector including investment banks and law firms. The layout and the popularity of the thriving brands in the area indicate significant emphasis to the presentation, hygiene, and quality and customer service by the clients before deciding to make a purchase.
The tea trike is a custom made, aesthetically pleasing and functionally superior with top of the class equipment fitted perfectly to aid ease of operations and Brew perfect quality and tasty loose leaf tea beverages. We will have both hot and cold tea options to begin with and the cold options will be phased out from October. Appropriate training will be provided to operate the trike.
We are looking for an experienced barista (or as we call teasmith) and an assistant to the barista to operate the tea trike and most importantly who loves tea and believes in the concept. The barista will also serve as an ambassador of our brand and therefore marketing and communication skills are key to be successful in the role. You will be given a reasonable level of autonomy and included in the key decisions regarding strategy, operations and marketing and meetings with experts in the area of finance and marketing. You will be able to determine your own role depending on your keenness to learn about the start-up world in food and beverages sector in London.
• experience in brewing tea or coffee in retail environment or trike is required for the barista but not for the assistant. We want someone who is willing to educate the customers about our offerings, makes an instant connection with the customers, is friendly, has good communication skills, passionate and enjoys the process of serving tea with view to make an overall process of buying extremely pleasant to a professional multicultural clientele. The ideal candidate will be have following skills.
• Excellent tea/coffee making skills using specialised equipment. Training will be provided on the brewing process, teas, serving process, and use of equipment.
• Strong customer service and ability to handle pressure during the morning busy with a smile. Marketing skills and making a connect with the customers are important as this is a start-up and trike is a part of branding and marketing strategy
• Ability to lead the operations (for an assistant, he/she needs to take ownership and support the barista) and critically adapting to the situations, particularly during the first few weeks of operations, make decisions as required to change gears to increase sales.
• Flexibility to work as part of core operations 40 hours - Monday to Friday. A level of flexibility will be required to adapt as more knowledge of customer peak times and low demand times are analysed.
• Excellent communication skills
• If interested, will have input in key business decisions and board meetings
As a part of overall package
• On top of basic salary (£8.50 to £10) we would offer a bonus program based on business and individual performance.
